Ram Slots

RAM stands for Random Access Memory. The RAM slots store information that the graphics card needs. The RAM is sent to the VGA output unit when the information is about to be used.

 

Circuit Board

The circuit board is a board under the graphics card that is wired to connect electrical components through conductive pathways(Traces). These copper sheets that the wires are on are excellent conductors.

 

AGP Connector

The AGP connector or the Accelerated Graphics Port is a type of storage device. The AGP connector connects the graphics card to the motherboard. This allows the Graphics Card to get information from the processor.

 

Graphics Processing Unit

The graphics processing unit uses RGB(Red, Green, and Blue) colors and line drawings to create pixels on the screen. These pixels are used to make up the picture.

 

Video Graphics Array

This is the port on the graphics card that hooks up the monitor to the graphics card through the motherboard.

 

S-Video Port

This allows the graphics card to connect with DVD players, video games, and video recorders. This carries 480i and 576i resolution video. This is standard definition but not bad.

 

Digital Visual Interface

This is a specialized connector for video projectors, LCD screens, and plasma screens. The DVI connector is similar to a VGA connector but for different screens.

 

Audio Out

This as a port on the graphics card that supports audio. This is usually on graphics card that have an S-Video port.

 

Video Out

This is usually on a graphics card that has an S-Video port. This allows the graphics card to connect to transfer video through a Mini-DIN Connector
